Yasawa Islands Backpackers FIJI

The stunning Yasawa Islands is without doubt the most beautiful region in Fiji with gorgeous white sandy beaches, great snorkelling in turquoise lagoons and idyllic sunny weather all year long. This beach paradise is a collection of twelve traditional islands extending north west of Nadi Airport with lots of backpacker resorts offering budget accommodation and a lively atmosphere. This is the backpackers paradise. However, bear in mind this is a remote and traditional region with resorts run by local villagers - communication is limited, provisions can be scarce, food rather basic and services limited - be prepared for flexibility, tolerance and patience - this is the real Fiji where not everything goes quite to plan!

I never got to go to the Yasawas when I was in Fiji, and I regret it a bit. They are supposed to be beautiful!

Just wanted to mention that you can find other places that are equally remote and traditional without the hassle of limited communication and provisions. Places like the Tribewanted community on Vorovoro and Nukubati Island are building diverse eco-communities that are integrated with the local cultures. Variety of food, experience, and people is hardly scarce - it's one of a kind!

Nukubati is hardly a haven for backpackers, though, as prices are at a premium, but Vorovoro is quite affordable and easy to get to after a quick flight to Labasa on Vanua Levu.

With the exception of Suva, though, it's hard to go wrong traveling to Fiji.
